My letter to the MTA CAC.

You might want to submit this too, to

cac@sfmta.com, about the proposed removal of overhead wires for the Super Bowl (http://www.sfexaminer.com/muni-wires-may-come-down-for-super-bowl/):

To the CAC:

I understand that the NFL has asked SFMTA to remove overhead wires on Market Street for three weeks in order to improve views of the fan event for Super Bowl 50.  Please count me among the opponents of this idea!  A fan event can happen with the wires in place, as hundreds if not thousands of other events have done since the wires went in.  This is a completely unnecessary proposal that will delay service for hundreds of thousands of riders for an event that isn’t even in San Francisco.

I would also advise the SFMTA to run, at the NFL’s expense, E-line service full time during the event.  It will be extremely important to provide sufficient transit access for the fans who participate.

Thanks!
